1. What is the Duration and type of treatment?

Q. What is the Duration and type of treatment?Ans:The treatment is for 90 minutes (Including physiotherapy) each for 21 days without Surgery, anesthesia and injection. Medication is only some vitamins and for co-existing diseases like osteoporosis, if required. 
The day of medical check up and MRI Scanning is not included in the treatment days.

Q. How to initiate the treatment at IJRC?Ans:

  • The patients may book through telephone/ Email in advance preferably for Wednesdays and Thursdays forenoon.
  • After Registration and subsequent complete medical check up, doctors approve patients for MRI** Scanning.
  • MRI scanning is carried out outside IJRC on a special protocol for RFQMR treatment.
  • The results of MRI will be available next day. The treatment can be started the very next day of MRI scanning at the earliest.

** Please avoid taking MRI before consultation at IJRC as the MRI required for CYTOTRON® treatment is on different protocol.

Q. Is hospitalization required Ans:
No. Daily visit for about 2 hours to IJRC for 21 days without break is only required.

Q. Can I break treatment in to different sessions?Ans:
No. The treatment has to be completed in 21 days without break. Also the treatment cannot be accelerated or compressed to less than 21 days.

Q.  Should I start the treatment the very next day of the MRI scanning?Ans:
It is better to start the treatment as soon as possible after MRI. A few days break in between MRI scanning and commencement of treatment may not affect the treatment efficacy.

Q.  Can acute diabetic and/ OR hypertensive patients take the treatment?Ans:
Yes. The treatment is safe for all patients except for cancer patients.

Q. Is any allergy or adverse reactions reported?Ans:
So far no adverse reaction reported.

Q.  Is there any restrictions on my movement during the treatment? Ans:
No. Patients are advised to walk reasonably during and after the treatment periods. Strenuous and continuous burden on the knee joints shall be avoided. Over exertion may nullify the good effects of the treatment. Standing for a long time in same posture without movement shall be avoided.

Q Is there any Restrictions on diet?Ans:
There are few vegetables, areca nut, milk and milk products, red meat and tobacco to be avoided during the treatment and preferably up to six months after treatment for best results.
Weight reduction if possible will be an added advantage for better results in a faster pace.

Q. What do I feel on lying on CYTOTRON® Machine?Ans:
Patients do not experience any discomfort or any feelings during the RFQMR exposure. Patients usually listen to soft music or meditate or fall in to soft slumber.

Q. How long it will take for the results?Ans:
Varies from patient to patient. Some relief will be noticed within two weeks. Subsequent relief may take up to 6 months.

Q. How long the good results will last? Ans:
RFQMR treatment has been introduced in 2004. No Relapse has been reported so far. One of our directors who was almost bedridden has responded very well to the treatment and continues to be so even after 5 years. Some eminent Indian ministers and Indian dignitaries have also responded well to this treatment and have commented through the press that this is the treatment of future for Osteoarthritis.

Q. In which types of arthritis is RFQMR applicable?
The RFQMR treatment has been applied to osteoarthritis patients on the clinical trials. Mostly conditions related to a damaged or deteriorated cartilage responds best to RFQMR treatment. Although positive responses has been noticed on patients with Rheumatoid arthritis, the long term success of this improvement is currently unknown as the number and the duration is limited.

There is no direct effect of RFQMR on ligaments, meniscuses or thorn muscles. However once the joint’s condition is improved with treated cartilage further benefits can be obtained with the help of physiotherapy where the strength of the muscle groups can be improved.
Currently the RFQMR can be applied on both knees, or hips, or shoulders, or elbows.

Q. What is the effect of RFQMR on cartilage and the overall condition of the joint?
In patients responding the treatment, there is a noticeable reduction in pain and improvement in mobility after 10-15 sessions. By the end of 21 sessions most patients should be free of pain and not requiring any pain killers. There is a significant improvement in joint mobility. Even patients who can hardly walk a few steps or those who are bedridden may walk longer distances without pain. But yet the overall efficacy is based on several factors including other conditions that may affect the joint.

The regenerative effect of RFQMR on cartilage is expected to continue once the treatment period is over. The 21 day sessions are required to initiate the regeneration process by increasing the membrane potential of the cells to a level where command and control center can issue orders for cell division.

During the clinical trials measurable regeneration has been observed on MRI scans 90 days post treatment period and this situation continues even nine months after the treatment is over. As a result continual improvement is expected for a considerable time frame.

Q. How does the RFQMR arthritis treatment process takes place?
          In order to determine the suitability of the RFQMR treatment we need to obtain a dossier that contains personalized information of the patient such as age, sex, weight etc, the diagnosis and the prognosis of the disease based on previous investigations, therapies applied and the outcome, the current situation of the patient with detailed symptoms, test results and the diagnostic images such as MRI,  X-Ray etc (preferably in DICOM format on a CD). There will be an initial evaluation of the patient, and if RFQMR is applicable there will be a further appointment with our doctors to discuss the terms and expected outcomes of the treatment.
Prior to the treatment the MRI of the area where treatment will be focused is obtained and will be fed to the CYTOTRON ® system. Afterwards the system will make an automated dose planning.

Q. Is there a side effect of RFQMR treatment on arthritis patients?
          Over the last 7 years no significant side effect has been noticed in the  2000 + patients obtained treatment. In very few patients minor issues such as temporary redness itching has been observed. The patient does not feel anything during the treatment.

RFQMR does not utilize the ionizing, thermal, destructive radiation of the upper side of the electromagnetic spectrum such those used in radiotherapy including X-rays or gamma knife that may also adversely affect the healthy cells. The non-ionizing, non-thermal radio frequency waves utilized in RFQMR has been safely used in thousands of electrical devices for more than 100 years and the MRI technology that has been utilized to precisely focus the rays on the application area has been in wide spread use for more than 30 years.
